Child Custody & Visitation

Child custody and visitation rights are very sensitive and delicate issues in family law. Courts generally want to ensure the child(ren) spend(s) an equal amount of time with both parents.

The standard courts use when making custody and visitation orders is "the best interest of the child."

When custody and visitation orders are being requested, in San Diego County, you are likely going to be sent to Family Court Services (FCS). FCS is simply mediation prior to the actual court hearing.

San Diego is a reporting county, which mean the mediator will draft a recommendation and submit their recommendation to the court for review. This means FCS is an important step in your custody and visitation matter. You should ALWAYS be prepped by an attorney prior to going to your scheduled mediation.
